It all began on March 3, 2024, at the 1029 Bar—an unexpected stop during Lisa’s night out celebrating her best friend Emily’s birthday. Lisa and Emily were deep into a lively game of bingo when Emily nudged her, insisting she strike up a conversation with a cute guy sitting at the bar with friends.
Lisa, shy but willing, wandered over. Isaac broke the ice with what would become his signature move: complimenting their coats. (If you know us, you know this is the quickest way to our hearts.) That small moment turned into a conversation that neither of us wanted to end.
We exchanged numbers that night, and Isaac wasted no time trying to set up a date—only for Lisa to immediately come down sick. But the delay didn’t dim the spark. Once she was feeling better, Isaac invited her to help him dog-sit for a friend. Lisa said yes instantly (we love dogs in this family). She arrived to find a sweet pup, and Isaac watching Lord of the Rings—an unexpectedly adorable combination.
Later, over drinks at Spring Street, Lisa did what she does best: unravel her entire life story, highs, lows, and everything in between, within 30 minutes. When Isaac didn’t run for the door, she knew she had found someone special.
Fast forward to February 23, 2025. Just days after Isaac’s nephew Kit was born, Isaac and Lisa’s sister Sarah were unusually persistent about getting Lisa out of the house for a walk. After plenty of reluctance, she agreed, completely unaware a surprise was waiting along the river. While she and Sarah were walking ahead, Lisa noticed Isaac had fallen behind. When she turned around, he was on one knee.
Tears, laughter, and a very easy “yes” followed. And just like that, our next chapter began.
On July 11, 2025 we closed on our first home in Crystal, MN—dreaming of the life and family we hope to grow there. We feel so grateful to be on this journey, surrounded by love, friendship, and support.
Thank you all for being part of our story. To our families—your guidance and joy mean everything to us. And a special acknowledgment from Lisa: to Mark Rakke, Isaac’s late father, whose kindness and warmth helped shape the man I am so lucky to marry.
We love you all, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you.
